Data Science

Data Science usually refers to an interdisciplinary field of study that draws from mathematics, statistics, computer science and engineering, and economics to extract knowledge and insights from structured and unstructured data to support better decisions. Data science is strongly related to Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Big Data. The former can be seen as systems that display intelligent behaviour by analysing their environment and the associated data and then taking actions to achieve specific goals. Big Data, instead, refers to a set of data whose complexity – not only in terms of size – prevents the use of classical processing techniques, requiring advanced methods to effectively scale. In essence, we can say that Big data are the fuel of AI.

Big Data Analytics

Big Data Analytics refers to the process, methodologies, and tools needed to collect, process, and extract information from Big Data, then provide insights helpful to companies to analyse business phenomena and take decisions based on data (data-driven decision-making). In contrast with classical Business Intelligence, which is limited to the use of descriptive statistics, Big data Analytics also makes use of statistical inference and AI to infer properties and to discover hidden patterns and trends within data.

Semantic Web

CRISP has a well established expertise in developing and improving Semantic Web technologies in the field of Labour Market (like skills and occupations ontologies and classifications), having and published in several top-tier journals and conferences and led national and international projects since 2012.

Labor Market Intelligence

Labour Market Intelligence (LMI) refers to the design of AI algorithms and frameworks to analyse Labour Market Data (like CVs, skills, online job postings) for supporting decision making. CRISP contributes to LMI research by leading national and international projects since 2012.

Health Care

CRISP has a longstanding experience in the study of healthcare sector dynamics, with particular focus on efficiency and effectiveness evaluation, and healthcare accreditation models. Recent studies also include the governance of decision support systems and organizational impacts.
